Leigh Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show

LEIGH Baptist Church was packed with attendees to the Leigh Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show. Visitors were treated to a display of prize-winning flowers and produce, as well as stalls with arts and crafts, paintings and a raffle.
Jill Crosby won the Burroughs Cup for the most unusual exhibit with her award winning Eucomis. Julia Tetley won an award for her Fuchsia and the Worshipful Company of Gardeners Certificate of Merit for Floral Art. Dawn Tucker won won the Senier Trophy for most points in all cut-flower classes.
The National Vegetable Society Award for Most Meritorious Exhibit of vegetables went to Julia Tetley, and Nick Pugh received the National Vegetable Society Award for Most Meritorious Exhibit in fruit. Both the LHS President’s award and the Worshipful Company of Gardeners Diploma for Excellence in Horticulture went to Robert Byford, for his cacti and succulents. Finally, the LHS Awards for Homecraft went to Rosemary Garwood for a jar of fruit jelly or jam.
